Oled Applications

Electroluminescent displays and lighting have been advanced by developments in small molecule and polymer-based organic molecules that emit light. OLEDs for LCD display backlights and general illumination have begun their entry into the market. However, light- emitting organic molecules tend to degrade with constant illumination and are particularly sensitive to humidity and oxidation.

Crystalplex quantum dots can be integrated with active matrix printed electronics. They are more robust than organic molecules and provide a larger color gamut. Emission peaks are more precise and provide superior color purity. Like organic emitters, they can be processed over large areas using liquid phase deposition techniques including roll-to-roll process, printing, and spin coating. Crystalplex produces QDs of equal size regardless of color. Incorporating these materials into specifically tailored matrix materials creates a QD-OLED device that combines the benefits of inorganic LEDs with those fundamental to OLED.
