TriLite™ nanocrystals represent the next generation of fluorescent semiconductor nanocrystals. TriLite™ nanocrystals are “composition-tunable” quantum dots (QDs). Unlike conventional QDs, Crystalplex tunes emission color by manipulating semiconductor elements in the QD core, not by overall size. With conventional QDs, emission is a function of crystal size. This leads to physical, chemical and photochemical differences across the visible spectrum due to large differences in mass and surface area between colors.
TriLite™ nanocrystals exhibit superior brightness and stability compared to standard quantum dots. All TriLite™ colors are equivalent in size, mass and quantum efficiency. All colors behave identically in dispersion, casting and printing operations. TriLite™ nanocrystals are manufactured by an easily-scalable method using less expensive starting materials. All of this adds up to semiconductor nanocrystals with high performance and reasonable cost for Display, Lighting, Security, and Life Science applications.
